King Tuber Oyster (Pleurotus tuber-regium)

King Tuber Oyster (Pleurotus tuber-regium) is a tropical mushroom which has been gaining some interest in the U.S. The mushroom produces a underground tuber, as well as a mushroom (both are edible). The mushroom looks somewhat like an oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) except that, when mature, the cap curves upward to form a cup-like shape.

King Tuber Oyster (Pleurotus tuber-regium) can degrade polyethylene film.

King Tuber Oyster (Pleurotus tuber-regium) can be grown on organic wastes such as corn, sawdust, cardboard. Mycelial growth occurs between 60 and 104F with an optimum growth rate at 95F.
